What is a microaggression?
-a small, everyday act of racism towards a person
What is a macroaggression?
-generalized insults towards a large group of people based on race, gender, sexuality, etc.
Keep a journal of observable and experienced macro and microaggressions in society. These journal entries can come from family, friends, school, TV, billboards, etc. Keep in mind what defines a micro and a macroaggression and take notice of what is around you. You are welcome to include images, snapshots or clips from items you see.

Macroaggression:
All white people can't jump. Asians aren't good at driving. Asians are good at math. African Americans are good at basketball Coach told the team that when he said "You know what I'm saying" and said that he sounded black. All Mexicans work at McDonalds. |

Tolerance: to willingly accept something or someone
White Privilege: social privileges or advantages of being white in color or race
Minority: a small group of people or population of people under-represented in the majority
Discriminate: to make fun of or judge a person based on race, ethnicity, sexuality, color, gender, etc.
Diverse: variety, different, multicultural
Prejudice: an opinion of someone/something that isn't based on reason
Generalization: a broad or general statement or idea that applies to a group of people or things
Biased: unfair prejudice against someone, a group of people
Ignorant: unaware of one's surrounding or environment
Stereotype: a fixed image or idea of a particular type of race
Race: a group of people or person coming from the same location, usually having the same ancestors/relatives
Melting Pot: a nickname for America
